Dandruff is a condition of the scalp that is caused by dead cells. They are usually small white or grey flakes. They make a person feel itchy which can be irritating and uncomfortable though they are not contagious and are harmless. It is due to the itchiness that some people shave their hair to reduce the irritation.

The known causes of dandruff are; the dead cells shedding off, this bring about the white flakes. For those who do not comb their hairs on a daily basis are more likely to get this scalp condition than those who comb their hair.

The other common cause of the condition is dry scalp- the dryness also adds up to the flakes and are usually more and smaller compared to the normal flakes. A person who has an oily skin is also likely to suffer from dandruffs, the condition is known as seborrheic dermatitis which can be a severe case if not dealt with immediately.

The known symptoms of this condition are the white or grey flakes. When a person sees them they automatically know that they have dandruff. When someone scratches their scalp they fall on a person shoulders and are visible especially when a person wears something dark. This is usually embarrassing to some people because they might be considered as dirty.

Treatment depends on whether the condition is severe or mild. For a mild condition, treatment may be done easily at home. Simple steps such as combing your hair at least once daily, washing your hair with a little shampoo daily and avoid scratching the scalp when washing but instead massaging it can be some of the simple ways of reducing this condition. Also by avoiding the mix of many different hair products and by using shampoos that are anti dandruffs can also help.

A simple home treatment such as using apple cedar vinegar is recommended. What are required are just warm water and a cup of the vinegar. You mix the two and wash your hair. The quantity depends on the person who is using it as there are no side effects whether a person uses too much or little, whatever the quantity. As you wash your hair, massage gentle for a while then risen off with warm water, as simple as that and the procedure can be repeated once in a week or two.

The only effect that vinegar has is the smell which takes up to eight or twelve hours to clear. So if you are planning to step out it might not be wise to use vinegar on your hair. The end result for treating this right is a strong healthy hair which will ensure that you look neat and presentable.
